Intellectual Property - Trademark - Copyright - Entertainment Attorneys

GV Legal IP is led by Moji Onabanjo. Moji has practiced IP law for almost two decades, advising multinationals across the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and Africa. She works with companies that hold large IP portfolios alongside small business owners, startups, and NGOs, walking each of them through business setup and trademark protection.
Moji negotiates IP transactions, files trademarks, and handles office actions. She advises authors, screenwriters, musicians, entertainers, and software developers on protecting their rights and represents them in day-to-day business transactions. She has spoken on panels at the American Bar Association, the IPL Conference, and the New York State Bar Association on cross-border brand protection.
Moji holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London, a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, and an LL.B. from Olabisi Onabanjo University. She is admitted in New York, the Southern and Eastern District courts of New York, Nigeria, and the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and belongs to INTA, ITechLaw, AIPPI, ECTA, Marques, PTMG, AIPLA, and the ABA IP Law Section.
Intellectual property protection starts with understanding what the business owns, how those rights are being used, and what legal steps support those rights. Our attorney works across the following areas, and a single client matter often touches more than one.
A trademark carries the reputation a business builds over years of use. We file applications, clears marks before launch, and advise on disputes once a mark is in use.
Copyright protects original creative work the moment it exists in fixed form, but registration and enforcement raise their own questions. We advise writers, artists, developers, and companies on ownership, licensing, and infringement claims.
Not every valuable asset gets filed with a government office. Our attorney advises businesses on protecting confidential information, drafts the agreements that keep it confidential, and responds when a trade secret gets misappropriated.
A patent, trademark, or copyright only has value if a business knows how to use it. We advise clients on building, managing, and licensing an IP portfolio in a way that supports the business.
Creative work often moves through contracts before it reaches an audience. We negotiate and drafts agreements for entertainers, producers, and other creators, and advise on rights issues that arise during production or distribution.
IP rights are territorial, which means a U.S. registration does not protect a mark or a work abroad. GV Legal IP works with professional partners in other countries to file, register, and enforce IP rights outside the U.S.
Disputes over ownership, use, or infringement sometimes require formal action. We represent clients in IP litigation, from cease-and-desist correspondence through court proceedings.
IP often changes hands as part of a larger deal. Our attorney drafts and negotiates licensing agreements, assignments, and other IP transactions, and reviews the IP terms in broader commercial agreements.
A few situations tend to raise IP questions before a client realizes it:

As an IP law firm, our team brings together trademarks, copyright, trade secret, and transactional work under one practice. Moji Onabanjo has practiced intellectual property law for almost two decades, with experience spanning trademarks, IP transactions, office actions, and rights-related matters.
Trademark, copyright, trade secret, entertainment, licensing, and commercial IP issues often intersect. We handle these areas within one practice, allowing related questions to be addressed together.
The firm works with multinational companies, startups, small businesses, NGOs, authors, screenwriters, musicians, entertainers, and software developers. The legal work starts with the client's circumstances rather than a fixed service model.
Our attorney handles both agreements and contentious matters. Its work includes IP transactions, licensing, assignments, trademark filings, office actions, enforcement, and litigation.
Cross-border matters often require local counsel in the relevant jurisdiction. We work with professional partners abroad on filings, registrations, and enforcement while coordinating the broader matter from New York.

The best legal team out there. I admire their composure, work ethic, and most of all, excellent representation. Thank you, Moji.
Every IP matter turns on its own documents, dates, and prior to use.
A filing or agreement rarely stands alone. We look at how it fits the client's broader business, then build a plan: a filing, an agreement, a negotiation, or litigation.
For matters that cross borders, we coordinate with professional partners abroad rather than asking a client to find separate counsel in each country.
Intellectual property touches your brand, your creative work, your agreements, and your commercial deals. If you have a question involving a trademark, copyright, trade secret, IP transaction, entertainment agreement, or international IP issue, GV Legal IP can discuss your circumstances and the legal work involved.
The available response depends on the facts: how the work was used, whether it was registered, and what the infringing party did with it. An attorney can review the use and advise on next steps, from a cease-and-desist letter to litigation
Confidential information can lose its trade secret status if a business does not take reasonable steps to protect it. A nondisclosure agreement is one part of that, alongside other practices.
A U.S. trademark or copyright registration protects rights in the U.S. only. For protection abroad, GV Legal IP works with professional partners in the relevant country.
The scope of the license, the territory it covers, the duration, and what happens on breach all shape what you are agreeing to. These terms deserve review before signature, not after a dispute.
Yes. Entertainment law work includes negotiating and drafting the agreements that govern a creator’s work, along with advising on rights issues that come up during production or distribution.
A trademark protects a brand identifier, such as a name or logo, used in commerce. A copyright protects an original creative work, such as writing, music, or software. A business can hold both, and they raise different legal questions.
Once a filing decision could affect how a business enforces its rights later, in-house handling carries more risk. Businesses with growing brands, licensing deals, or cross-border plans tend to bring in counsel earlier.
Intellectual property touches your brand, your creative work, your agreements, and your commercial deals. If you have a question involving a trademark, copyright, trade secret, IP transaction, entertainment agreement, or international IP issue, GV Legal IP can discuss your circumstances and the legal work involved.
